BHO Explosion Rocks North Portland Home
A home in North Portland exploded on Saturday, tragically killing Matthew Mccran (age 42) and Richard Cisler (age 68). The BHO explosion was substantial, and affected other homes in the neighborhood.
BHO Explosions are a somewhat common, yet preventable, occurrence in certain states where cannabis has been legalized. In the residential context, consumers are using butane as a solvent, yet the butane may not carry adequate warnings and instructions. In the industrial setting, BHO Explosions have occurred in facilities with inadequate venting. Butane is odorless and, under certain circumstances, explosive. Butane vapors may travel distances to reach a source of ignition, often with no notice to the user. States must act to regulate the sale and distribution of butane if these accidents are to be prevented.
